Destination: Fit

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
- 2 Corinthians 5:17

Beginning tomorrow I will be updating my workouts on a daily basis (I hope). Now you all can follow me on my fitness journey to "hot mama/super-hot milspouse" status. I will also be updating my meals. Please don't laugh at my pics, I'm a good cook :). Sometimes eating healthy doesn't look so good but to me it's not all about taste anymore. I eat to live.

This weekend I ran a total of 6 miles (15miles total for the week) and did the Body Flexor NTC workout. It was my first week back running since...September 2010. I just had a baby girl (Amira) on April 29. I think I'm in pretty good shape to be running again 5 weeks after giving birth. God has blessed me with the strength and energy to do so. Im not only on a physical journey, I'm also on a spiritual journey to get closer to God. The Pastor mentioned today in church that most times, you can be delivered by just by renewing your mind. I've always told myself that I could never run long distances, I wouldn't last. I hated cardio, I hated being tired. I was afraid of the treadmill. But since I've been in Christ, my old self went away, my mind has been renewed. I now tell my body what it's going to do. I tell it to run, and I run. It wants to stop and rest, I tell it no. Wonder how I'm working out this much after just having a baby. My God will tell you.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #43

So this is my first post and it happens to fall on a Friday which means it's Milspouse Friday Fill-In. This was started by fellow military spouse, Wifeofasailor, and it's something that milspouse bloggers partake in every Friday. Here it goes:

1. It’s now June (woot!)… what plans do you have for the summer?
Great question. I just got done booking my boxing lessons for the next two months at Fight University *fistpump* (literally). I also plan to sign up for spinning lessons on post. In addition, I am returning to work on Monday (I personal train). Oh and did I mention I have an almost 3 year old and a 4 week old??? Busy summer indeed.

2. What is your favorite summer memory as a kid?I was an army brat so I never really got to see much of my extended family. My favorite thing to as a kid was visit my grandparents in the summer. My brother and I would do things like run through the sprinklers in the backyard in our bathing suits, collect "lightening bugs" in jars at night and stay up all night playing supernintendo and Nintendo 64. I would kick his butt in MarioKart and 007: GoldenEye. Having fun was so simple back then.

3. If wild animals could be made pets without fear of them ever being dangerous, what kind of exotic animal would you want as a pet?
Ever since I was a kid I've always wanted a black panther. They're gorgeous.

4. Is there anything about deployments that you do like? submitted by The Thrifty Military Wife
Well I'm a new army wife, my husband is still at AIT so I haven't been through a deployment yet. I can't imagine that there would be anything that I will like about it other than having the tv to myself.

5. I’m starting to run out of questions again… so please give me a question you’d like to see (off-the-wall will most likely make it because we seem to have used a lot of the “traditional” ones).
Have you (spouse) ever considered joining the military and what do you think of dual military couples?
